GOSHEN The Goshen Central School District honored the memory of their friend and colleague, Rich Shamro, by planting a memorial tree at the Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School. Shamro worked for the district for five years, beginning in 1999. He spent his final two years at Goshen as senior groundskeeper, until he passed away in November 2004. “The tree was planted to shade the playground at Scotchtown because Rich always enjoyed young kids,” said Roy Reese, Superintendent of Schools. Senior groundskeeper Louis Frenette, head of maintenance Paul Kowalczyk, and maintenance workers Mel Bechard, Tommy Lane, Dennis Maddalone, and Don Spoor planted the tree in honor of their friend.
