CHESTER Courtney Edwards of Chester has been commissioned as a second lieutenant of the U.S. Army. Edwards was commissioned through the ROTC program at Widener University in Chester, Pa. She graduated from Widener with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. During her senior year at Widener, Edwards served as the assistant personnel officer for the Freedom Battalion at Widener. Edwards is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School and the Nurse Summer Training Program. She will enter the Army as a nurse corps officer. Edwards’ parents, Bill and Debbie Edwards, participated in the commissioning ceremony by pinning on their daughter’s rank.
