John (Jack) Moriarty

    John (Jack) Moriarty of Warwick died on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at St. Anthony Community Hospital. He was 88 years old. Born on Aug. 31, 1916, in New York City, he was the son of Michael and Delia Sullivan Moriarty. He was married to the late Margaret E. Parrell. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a New York City firefighter for 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Suffern and a parishioner of St. Stephen's R.C. Church, Warwick. His family, in their statement, said: "He was loved by all of us and will be missed forever." Survivors include his two daughters: Nancy Scheinert and her husband, Howard, of Pine Island and Margaret Moriarty-Riddle of Hollis, N.H,; his seven grandchildren: Maureen, Mary, Thomas, Anthony, John, Kathryn and Bridget; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers: James B. Moriarty, Msgr. Thomas S. Moriarty and Timothy B. Moriarty. A funeral Mass was celebrated July 25 at St. Stephen's Church. Interment followed in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen. Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick coordinated the arrangements.
