Happy 100th Birthday, Helena 'Mormor' Erickson

WARWICK — The family of Helena Erickson wish their grandmother a wonderful, happy healthy 100th birthday.
One of her seven grand children, Christina Daciuk of Warwick, explains:
"Our incredible Grandmother who we lovingly refer to as Mormor (which means Mother’s Mother in Swedish) was born in Åland, a chain of Islands between Sweden and Finland on March 4, 1916.
"She is the ninth of 12 children born to Werner and Julia (Soderberg) Nordenfelt.
"She is also the last of this generation.
"She moved to New York City in 1939 and married John-Erik Erickson (also originally from Åland) in 1947.
"Shortly after they welcomed two daughters Greta Marlene (Erickson) Colin (1948-2003) and Ramona Elizabeth (Erickson) Walsh (1951-2011).
"Mormor has seven grandchildren: Erica (Walsh) Sarnecky of New Hampton, Christina (Walsh) Daciuk of Warwick, Erin Walsh of East Northport, Shawn Walsh of Warwick, John Colin of Colorado Springs, Elizabeth Colin of Aspen and Christopher Colin of Warwick.
"She also has eight great grandchildren and is expecting three more by June. They are Carter and Charlotte Daciuk, Brooke and Emily Sarnecky, Connor and Jack Colin and Cora and Wyatt Green-Colin.
"Among her many hobbies, she loves cooking some of her signature dishes such as Swedish pancakes (plattar), pot roast, bacon and eggs, broccoli and chicken casserole for all to enjoy,
"She loves playing cards, entertaining her great grandkids, listening and dancing to music (especially a good Swedish polka) and trying her luck on the penny slots at any casino.
"Mormor also loves passing the time watching her favorite TV shows like "The Young & The Restless," "The Bold & The Beautiful," "Jeopardy," Wheel of Fortune," "Dancing with the Stars" and any ice skating event."
Mormor now lives in Warwick with Christina, her husband Christian and their two children Carter and Charley.
"Grattis på födelsedagen Mormor!"
