Georgina De Raffele celebrates 90th birthday at The Warwick Valley Seniors Club
WARWICK — Another active member of the The Warwick Valley Seniors Club just joined a rapidly growing exclusive group of people in that organization.
On Wednesday, Sept. 20, the club members held an early 90th birthday celebration for Georgina De Raffele who was born in New York City on Sept. 26, 1927.
In the year she was born the president of the United States was Calvin Coolidge. At $70,000 per year, Babe Ruth was the highest paid baseball player in history and Charles Lindberg earned fame and fortune when he became the first pilot to fly a single engine airplane non stop across the Atlantic from New York to Paris.
De Raffle and her husband Tom, 91, who moved to Warwick in 2001, have been married for 67 years.
They have two daughters and one grandchild.
The celebration, serving cakes and refreshments and everyone singing, "Happy Birthday," took place at the spacious and modern facility that is the Warwick Senior Center, adjacent to the Town Hall on Kings Highway, which first opened in June 2005.
Marie Sisti, president of the club, suggests joining and becoming an active member of her organization may have something to do with good health and longevity.
The only requirement for membership in The Warwick Valley Seniors Club is that you must be age 60 or over. The advantage of membership in The Warwick Valley Seniors Club also includes taking trips together and enjoying entertainment and informative guest speakers.
