    Graduations Nicole Wynn of Pine Island, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Purchase College School of Art and Design with a BFA in Graphic Design. Lisa Van Tieghem of Warwick received a Master of Arts degree in conservation biology from the Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Johnathan Noel Vega, graduate of Pine Island Elementary and Warwick Valley High School (2007), has graduated from the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science, with a major in political science and a minor in economics. He will start at Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law in August. Dean’s list Amanda Lax, daughter of Robert and Linda Lax of Warwick, has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Lax, a senior, is an education major. Lindsay Theodore of Sugar Loaf, a sophomore at Cornell University majoring in molecular and cell biology, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester with a GPA of 3.80. Eligibility for the dean’s list in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is determined by a minimum course load for the semester of 12 letter-graded credits and achievement of a semester GPA of at least 3.50. Courtney Howell of the Village of Florida has been named to the dean’s list at Elmira College. Courtney is majoring in nursing and is the daughter of Skip and Diane Howell. The dean’s list recognizes students that have a grade point average of 3.6 or higher. Jonathan Vega of Pine Island was among the students added to The University of Scranton Dean’s List for the fall 2010 semester after publication of the list in January of 2011. Vega is a senior in the university’s College of Arts and Science A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the dean’s list. Uriah Kashmann-Myrow has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Alfred University in Alfred. A freshman majoring in psychology, he is a member of the Alfred varsity soccer team. He is the son of Betsy Kashmann and Jay Myrow of Warwick. The following students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at the State University of New York at Geneseo:. Sarah Horton from Florida. Elizabeth Hayes from Pine Island. Emily Lepski from Pine Island. To be on the list, a student must have achieved a 3.5 grade point average while taking at least 12 credit hours. The following students have been named to the president’s and dean’s lists at SUNY Oswego: Colleen Hamel of Florida, a senior (adolescence education, deans’ list). Tyler G. Barbariantz of Golf Drive in Florida, a sophomore (accounting, president’s list). Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the president’s list, the top 6.5 percent of Oswego students. To be included on the deans’ list, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79. Honors, awards, internships John LoForese, 2008 Warwick Valley High School graduate, has accepted an internship with Honorable La Tia W. Martin, New York State Supreme Court, Bronx County, Twelfth Judicial District. A senior at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, John is completing double honors studies in political science and philosophy. He plans to enter law school in 2012. This is LoForese’s second Supreme Court internship, having served with the Honorable Jeffrey G. Berry, Orange County Criminal Court, last summer. The Greenwood Lake Lions are pleased to award this year’s scholarship to Nicholas Mello. Each year the Lions award a $1,500 scholarship to a high school senior who has demonstrated a commitment to community service. Nicholas is a senior at George F. Baker High School and plans to attend SUNY Rockland in the fall.
