College honor rolls and awards
Monroe - Local students continue to find success in their collegiate careers. Here is the latest information, provided the students’ colleges and universities: Meaghan Leddy of Harriman was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester at Johns Hopkins University. To be selected for this honor, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Leddy, who attended Monroe Woodbury High School, is majoring in sociology and is expected to graduate in May 2006. Matthew Carcaterra, a 2001 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, has been named to the dean’s list at the State University of New York College at Cortland. Carcaterra, whose major is physical education, is the son of Lynda and Gary Carcaterra of Highland Mills. Hillary K. Ovsak, a 2005 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, has been named to the dean’s honor list at Manhattan College in Riverdale for the fall 2005 semester. Ovsak is studying elementary and special education. The following students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester at the Marist College in Poughkeepsie: Danielle Stack of Monroe, a member of the Class of 2006 who is majoring in psychology and special education. She is enrolled in the five-year master’s degree program. Brian A. Kennedy of Monroe, a member of the Class of 2009 who is majoring in business and finance. Stephanie Campion of Monroe has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester at the University of New Haven. Students must maintain a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA for the entire semester to be eligible. Morgan Gleason of Monroe, who is pursuing an associate degree in accounting from the College of Business at the Providence, R.I., campus of Johnson & Wales University, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2006 winter term. To receive the commendation, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above. Sean Paul Culver, son of Patty and Ray Culver of Highland Mills, has enrolled for fall 2006 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology. Culver, recipient of both an RIT Presidential Scholar Award and a RIT Merit Scholarship, will major in biochemistry in thr College of Science. He expects to graduate Monroe-Woodbury High School in June.
