Anne Palmer Moss selected Aging Services leader
GOSHEN The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging recently selected Anne Palmer Moss of Elant Inc. as a member of its Leadership Fellowship program. The program develops leaders in care for the aging and addresses the shortage of potential leaders nationwide. Only 35 executives from the long-term care field are accepted into the highly competitive fellowship program each year. Moss joined the Elant Foundation as the vice-president of development in the fall of 2005. In May , she spearheaded a Eldercare Summit, a discussion in the industry on elder care’s economic consequences. Coming out of the summit was the Foundation’s reference tool “Transitions: The Eldercare Resource Guide to the Hudson Valley,” designed to help people navigate the heath care system. “We are tremendously proud that Anne was chosen to participate in such a selective national program,” said Donna G. McAleer, president and chief executive officer of Elant. “At Elant, we strongly encourage our top talent to seek opportunities to promote their ongoing leadership development and professional growth.” Moss launched the Community Foundation of Orange County, which acquired more than $3 million in assets in less than five years. She has served on many boards, including the Orange County Partnership, the State University of New York at New Paltz Foundation, the Community Foundation of Orange County, and the Orange County Parks Master Plan Task Force. She helped found the non-profit Institute for Leadership and Management at Orange County Community College. She is a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals and Leadership America (Class of 2002), and is a 2001 Tribute to Women of Achievement Honoree. She has devoted years of service to arts organizations, institutions of higher learning, her church, and numerous other civic organizations. Moss holds a degree in microenvironmental studies in design, graduating magna cum laude from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She also studied at Emerson College in Boston and did post-graduate work in journalism and communications at Penn State University. The Leadership class will convene in late October at the American Association of Homes and Services’s annual meeting and exposition in Orlando, Fla. Elant Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that provides services for older adults and chronically ill people of all ages. Elant has grown from a 120-bed nursing home, which opened in 1985, to a network of home care agencies and services that serves more than 3,000 people a day.
