78 students inducted into National Honor Society
Central Valley - Seventy-eight Monroe-Woodbury High School students recently were inducted into the Charles L. Daly Chapter of the National Honor Society. The induction ceremony, which took place in the high school auditorium, began with a procession of the inductees. Each student carried a candle and processed to Beethoven’s Quintet in B-Flat played by the M-W Woodwind Ensemble conducted by Rick Regan. The featured speaker for the evening was Thomas Lee, a member of the Social Studies Department. The current officers of the Honor Society each spoke about one of the characteristics of an Honor Society member. For instance, society president Nikita Ponochovnyy was master of ceremonies and spoke about leadership. Lindsay Greenberg, vice-president, Jessica Mazzola, secretary, and Lisa McManus, treasurer, also spoke. Finally, High School Principal Aldo Filippone addressed the new inductees and led them in reciting the National Honor Society Pledge.
