5K Run/Walk for recovery from addiction

    Middletown — September is National Recovery Month. In celebration, The Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council is staging its first 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Middletown Community Campus, 117 Seward Ave. in Middletown. The hope is to raise awareness of the recovery community and reduce the stigma that so often surrounds the disease of addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Addiction affects more than just the individual, but families and friends as well. The public is invited to come and show support for those embracing a life of recovery. The event is being co-hosted by the RC Ward Addiction Treatment Center with help from the Orange Runners Club. Entertainment will be provided by Party Time Productions. In-person registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Register online or go to www.adacinfo.com for a printable mail-in application. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group and top three walkers overall Race fees: $18 for pre-registered by Sept. 15 $20 after Sept. 15 and on race day T-shirts will be given to 1st 150 participants.
