13 students, including two from Warwick, receive $1,500 scholarships
Students honored for volunteer work MONTEBELLO n The Provident Bank Charitable Foundation awarded $1,500 scholarships to 13 high school seniors from across the Hudson Valley as part of its annual Community Involvement Scholarship Program, which recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding community service. The students were honored June 19 in a ceremony at the bank’s headquarters in Montebello. “Provident Bank is proud to award scholarships to these high school students who have volunteered their time and effort to improve the quality of life in their communities,” said George Strayton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Provident Bank. “We congratulate these students on their many accomplishments and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.” The winners from Orange County are: Rebecca Chase of Pine Bush High School, David Kempinger of Warwick Valley High School, Jeanine Lord of Valley Central High School and Stephen Schork of Warwick Valley High School. The other winners were from Rockland and Sullivan County. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have logged a minimum of 40 hours of community service in the last four years and must attend a college in Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Putnam or Bergen Counties. The program was established in 1992 by Provident Bank and has awarded more than $100,000 to local students.
