Youth Symphony announces spring concert

Vernon, N.J. — Fresh from their successful performance at the Sussex County Spring Fest, the Skylands Youth Symphony will present their final public performance of the 2007 season with their 10th annual Spring Concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at Saint Francis De Sales Church, County Route 517, Vernon, N.J. This performance by the Youth Symphony, which is made up of musicians from 10 to 18 years of age, will include selections by Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi. The members of the Chamber Orchestra have similarly honed their musical skills and will perform selections from Carmen by Bizet and a movement of Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 along with other classical compositions. The Symphony orchestra and Chamber orchestra are under the direction of Keely Gould, a violin teacher and a music educator in Warwick, N.Y. She is a recent recipient of the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation Award for her dedication to music and her students.
