BLOOMING GROVE — Any kid who ever dreamed of running away with the circus doesn’t have to go far this summer to literally hang from the rafters in this aerial yoga immersion program.

Two summer sessions featuring a range of fun activities and instruction will be offered at The Body Art Barn, 2952 Route 94, Blooming Grove, for kids ages 5-17. They will be instructed in age-appropriate activities in aerial yoga, painting henna, outdoor activities and circus-y fun.

Aerial yoga is a practice that blends the two traditional art forms of yoga and aerial dance. Kids will learn to flow through yoga postures as they dance on the silks above the ground.

No experience in yoga, acrobatics or aerial dance is necessary.

Body Art Barn owner Michelle Dawson, who has been practicing yoga and offering her services as a henna artist for 17 years, has 25 aerial silk hammocks inside and outside the barn for kids to enjoy and learn on.

Kids will show off what they’ve learned at the end of the camp session during a performance staged for friends and family.
