WARWICK — The season of Lent, which began on Ash Wednesday, March 6, is a solemn time of reflection and penance lasting the 40 days leading up to Easter.
On Saturday, March 23, at 8 p.m., St. Stephen’s Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, will welcome back the Xavier Company for a musical theater performance of "Whom Shall I Send?"
Last year’s passion play presentation of "No Greater Love" was very well received.
"Whom Shall I Send?" is rooted in the New Testament depicting God’s call to the disciples and their response, specifically the spiritual journeys of Peter, Paul, John, Mary Magdalene and Lydia. The production includes “energetic dialogue, vibrant songs and dances.”
The Xavier Company is a group of professional actors, singers and dancers based at St. Francis Xavier Church in New York City. The group is under the direction of Carol Ferrone.
The theatre company has traveled throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania for more than 30 years performing plays that “proclaim the gospel and explore themes of spirituality and social justice”
The Xavier Company presentation of "Whom Shall I Send?" will take place in the sanctuary of St. Stephen’s Church and is open to the public. There is no cost to see the performance, however a free-will offering will be greatly appreciated.
