Woodbury Reads 2008 will be The 64 Tomato'
Highland Mills - The following is a list of upcoming programs and events at the Woodbury Public Library: On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the Friends will hold a soap-making night with Kathy Schimpf at 7 p.m. at the Central Valley Branch. Call 928-2114 to sign up. There will be a $3 materials fee. The Friends are also working on finalizing plans for Woodbury Reads! The selection is “The $64 Tomato” by local author William Alexander. Copies of the book will be available in February; in March there will be a meet the author event, a book discussion and programs about gardening in Orange County. If you are interested in helping, call Martha LaVallee at 928-2114. The first Knitting and Needlework night will be on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Central Valley Branch. Anyone 14 and older who would like to learn to knit, share their current project or get tips is invited to join the group. This group meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month. The Book Club has scheduled three discussions, beginning with “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,” on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Highland Mills Branch. Call 928-2114 or 928-6162 to sign up. The March discussion will be on the “The $64 Tomato.” In April the book is “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen. Books will be available at both branches.
