Woodbury - Woodbury Community Day is back. After not being held last year, the Woodbury Community Day co-chairpersons Sue Arent and Woodbury Town Councilwoman Gerry Gianzero announced its return. This day of celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8, and consists of two separate venues. The day events will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Smith Clove Road, off Route 32 in Central Valley. There visitors can see demonstrations by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, UMAC Karate School and McDonnell Bakke School of Irish Dance. The site will also include craft and food vendors, a pet adoption center, a book sale and WHUD radio’s Mike Bennett with his van and prize wheel. Woodbury’s Fire District Smoke House will be featured and DJ Steve Lopez will have live music. The evening events are for Woodbury residents only and will take place at Earl Reservoir on Schunnemunk Road north of Highland Mills. Starting at 6 p.m. with music by Two Drink Mary and continuing with fireworks at dusk, the evening— and Woodbury Community Day — will conclude with the showing of the movie, “Happy Feet.” “Woodbury Community Day started in the 1990’s to introduce the residents to the many businesses in Woodbury and to show them what the businesses have to offer,” said Gianzero in a telephone interview on Monday. “The entire committee is happy to resume this celebration of our community of Woodbury.”
