WARWICK — The Albert Wisner Public Library is hosting an Acoustic Christmas at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, with the string band "Uncommon Ground."
The event will take place in the Community Room of the facility, located at 1 McFarland Drive in Warwick.
Band members Wayne Fugate, Rachel Handman and Mike Kobetitsch will offer those attending their warm spin on a wealth of festive fare, performed on violin, guitar and mandolin.
"The trio will be your tour guides through the wonderful world of holiday music, taking you on an uplifting journey that begins here at home but also visits England, Ireland, France and Germany, sampling holiday music and discussing the origins and history of each carefully selected tune," according to the release from the library announcing the program.
The program will include classics such as “Come All Ye Faithful,” and “Silent Night” to lesser known old-time holiday fiddle music and classically influenced carols.
Those in attendance will also be able to sing along with the group.
This program is made possible by a gift to the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation by Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes.
Anyone planning on attending should reserve their seating by registering online at albertwisnerlibrary.org or by calling the Library’s Help Desk at 845 986-1047 ext. 3.
