Wigilia celebrates a Polish tradition

    Pine Island — The 15th annual Wigilia Supper, sponsored by the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the PLAV Hall in Pine Island. This traditional Polish Christmas Eve observance will start after the first star appears, at approximately 4:30 p.m. The celebration will feature the sharing of Oplatek, prior to a traditional meatless family-style dinner, that can easily be duplicated for personal in-home observances. Following the dinner, the society will honor Gloria Pason as Orange County’s Polish-American Citizen of the Year for 2005-2006. Tickets are $18 per person, and children under the age of ten are free.
