Warwick — Applewood Winery will host the seventh annual Who Let the Dogs Out? fundraiser for the Warwick Valley Humane Society on Saturday, June 11, beginning at 11 a.m. (Raindate: June 12.) Registration is $10 for adults and $1 for children under 14 years of age. Proceeds benefit the Warwick Valley Humane Society. The event will open with canine contests beginning at noon. The contests include favorites such as Best Costume, Best Trick and Best Tail Wagger. New this year is Best Tennis Ball Catcher and an exciting Pupcake Eating contest. As usual, prizes and give-aways abound for contest winners and participants.! Under the guidance of The Dog Coach, Jennifer Basile, event goers can have fun trying out the canine agility course. In addition, Basile will provide information for handlers seeking Good Citizen certification for their dogs. Taking advantage of the venue at Applewood Winery, event goers and their canine companions can have pet photos taken by professional pet photographer Chris Babicke. A 4x6 photo of your pet can be purchased for $10. Dirty Dog Mobile Grooming will be on hand to help spiff up your dog’s appearance with teeth brushing, ear cleaning and nail clipping offered at discounted prices. Once your canine companion is fully pampered, Premier Designs Jewelry will have jewelry for sale so that you and your doggie diva will look fabulous on long walks. A new vendor at the event this year is Say it With Style, offering dog related items for both dogs and dog lovers. All vendors at the event are animal lovers and are donating a portion of their proceeds to the Warwick Valley Humane Society. All event goers will have the opportunity to cast their votes to determine the winner of the Pet Photo Contest. There will also be crafts for children, dog trivia and a 50/50 Raffle. Obedience-training demonstrations and an informational lecture provided by professional trainers from Canine Case Squad will review the difference between training and behavior. The grand finale for the day is always the Shelter Dog Parade featuring the adorable and adoptable dogs of the Warwick Valley Humane Society. As with every weekend at the Applewood Winery, wine tastings are available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Courtyard Café will feature light fare and the winery’s signature sangria. There will be live music from 2 to 5 p.m. in the courtyard. For more information, call the Warwick Valley Humane Society at 986-2473.
