West Point to present oboe recital on Jan. 20
West Point Staff Sgt. Carey Winans will present a recital of music for oboe and piano by Marin Marais, Henri Dutilleux and other French composers on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 3 p.m. in the West Point Jewish Chapel. The concert is free. Winans received her bachelor of music in performance from the University of Northern Colorado in 2003, where she studied with Peter Cooper. She completed her master of music in 2005 at the University of Southern California under Allan Vogel. Winans performed in Carnegie Hall twice in 2005, once with the American Youth Symphony, and once with the University of Southern California Wind Ensemble. She is also a member of the West Point Woodwind Quintet. Allow extra travel time for the vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates.
