Warwick will be rockin' to blue grass music and folk Aug. 19
Warwick Pete Holmgren is really looking forward to Saturday night. It will be his first time headlining a Village of Warwick summer concert at the Railroad Green. He and his band, The Ramapo Mountain Boys, will entertain everyone with their lively, blue grass style. Holmgren, who plays mandolin, is joined in the band by Dave Kopec on banjo, Bernie Riley on fiddle, Dave Dunn on guitar and Dave Tarzian on bass. The band has been together for three years and, Holmgren said, all of the members are originally guitar players who picked up other instruments. Holmgren is well known to many in town he is the owner of Village Music. He opened the business last November and provides music lessons, repairs, and sales. There are 10 teachers available through Village Music who give lessons on all different instruments. Holmgren and his brother, Charlie, also play at Halligan’s Pub. They are known as The Holmgren Brothers, playing folk, rock, and jazz. Holmgren is originally from Bergen County, where The Ramapo Mountain Boys play often. His brother moved to Warwick two years ago. Holmgren liked Warwick and was interested in opening a business. He wrote a business play, the demographics looked good, so he gave it a shot. Opening for The Ramapo Mountain Boys is Kyle Hancharick, a 15-year-old folk singer from Warwick. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. on the Railroad Green and it’s free. Bring a chair and pick your spot. The concert series is made possible by donations from Brass Rose Inn B&B, Techni-Growers Greenhouses, The Demarest Hotel, Warwick Valley B&B, Jonah Mandelbaum, Mary Woodruff Bradner, Kennedy Companies, Inc., Claudia Vaccaro Real Estate, Sanford & Son, Inc., Paul Manza, The Bank of New York and Bonacic, LoBiondo, & Krahulik, LLP.
