Warwick resident directs Alexander's Terrible Day'

Montclair, N.J. Warwick resident Felicia Lipchik Gell is directing a musical version of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” a popular children’s book by Judith Viorst. The show opens on Saturday, April 28, at Studio Players in Montclair, N.J., with subsequent shows on Sunday, April 29; Saturday, May 5; and Sunday, May 6. The one-hour musical tells a story every child and parent can relate to, as it chronicles Alexander’s reactions to his “bad day” of disappointing events, including a prize-less cereal box, a fight with a friend and a visit to the dentist. Alexander’s efforts to deal with the daily dramas life throws his way provide a meaningful, entertaining lesson to young audiences. Gell directs a cast of seven young adults from northern New Jersey: Rebecca Cores, Danielle Pelletier, Mandy Feiler, Anthony Rubolotta, Michael Campbell, Nino Spallacci, and Desiree Caro, who also served as choreographer. The musical director is Judy Stanton, and the stage manager is Claudia Budris. “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” shows at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on each of the four performance dates. Tickets are $10, with discounts available for pre-paid groups of 20 or more. Theater has only 130 seats, so young theatergoers are all close to the action. Advance reservations can be made by calling the box office at 973-744-9752. The Studio Playhouse is located at 14 Alvin Place, off Valley Road near the A&P, in Upper Montclair, N.J.
