Warwick - Pat Gilchrist, the recently retired president of the Orange County Citizens Foundation, will be honored by The Historical Society of the Town of Warwick at the Under the Tent Party Centennial Benefit on Saturday, Aug. 26. A long time member of the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick, Gilchrist has given her energy and support to the society’s many activities over the years. Most recently, she has agreed to help with the 2007 capital campaign to increase the society’s capital reserves that fund the maintenance of society properties. A few date back to colonial times and, while authentic, are in need of restoration and preservation. Gilchrist has been an active member of the Orange County Community for four decades. Her influence and dedication to the many organizations with which she served is exceptional. She was president of the Orange County Citizens Foundation for 18 years, during which time the foundation experienced extraordinary growth and implemented numerous initiatives including Orange Pathways, the Orange County Arboretum, Leadership Orange and the Community Foundation of Orange County. She also has been a driving force over the years in improving the quality of life in Orange County. To that end she has focused on land use, transportation planning, waste and water management, and cultural affairs. The Under the Tent benefit also is a celebration of 100 years of preservation.
