Warwick Historical Society presents exhibit of wedding attire

WARWICK — This Sunday, July 27, the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick will host the gala opening of its Bridal Exhibit with a special presentation by Curator Michael Bertolini.

The unique exhibit of wedding attire from days gone by titled, Warwick Weddings - Then and Now, will be held at the Buckbee Center, formerly the Albert Wisner Public Library, from 1 - 4 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served and visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about what is available in Warwick for weddings today. They may also visit Society venues that are available for all special events including weddings, vow renewals, showers, anniversary and rehearsal dinners, wine tastings and other gatherings.

The Old School Baptist meeting house, for example, would serve as the setting for an elegantly simple ceremony. Lewis Park, with the beautiful garden behind the 1810 House and maintained by The Garden Club of Orange and Duchess Counties, is available for an outdoor reception or party. Historic Baird's Tavern, known to have hosted George Washington and other Revolutionary War era personalities is the perfect spot for a small dinner party, cocktail reception or wine and cheese gathering. The Buckbee Center has been transformed into a space designed for larger group gatherings with rest rooms and kitchen.

Committee members suggest that if you are a bride to be, party or wedding planner, hosting a party or simply interested in the costumes and historic buildings of Warwick plan on attending Warwick Weddings-Then and Now.

There is a suggested donation of $10 per person.
