Warwick Grove celebrates first anniversary
Warwick - Warwick Grove, the 215-home development in Warwick developed by LeylandAlliance and Tarragon Corporation, will celebrate its first anniversary Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, with live music, carriage rides, refreshments and giveaways. Representatives will be on hand to give guided tours of the grounds and the model homes. The event will coincide with a carnival in adjacent Memorial Park. Planned by Duany Plater Zyberk & Company, Warwick Grove utilizes the principles of traditional neighborhood design found in such places as Charleston, S.C., Stonington, Conn., and Nantucket, Mass. These neighborhoods typically feature a town center, a variety of housing types and interconnected street networks. Warwick Grove takes its architectural cue from the historic precedents of the Hudson Valley, predominantly Dutch Colonial, farm country and Victorian, according to information from the developers. Warwick Grove has won numerous awards, including a gold award from Builder Magazine for design and planning and a platinum award from Professional Builder Magazine for best single-family detached home. That home, designed by Donald Powers, has also been featured in “The Face of Home” by Jeremiah Eck (Taunton Press). Another home has been featured in Woman’s Day Special Publications. Thirty percent of the 215 homes have been sold in the last year. Meanwhile, the first condominium and townhome buildings are under construction and available for tours. The Post Office has been completed and the Neighborhood Center is expected to open before the end of the year. It will feature an outdoor pool, a library and a fitness center.
