Warwick grads play The Chance this Saturday

Poughkeepsie - Zen, an all-female three-piece band who first began playing while they were students at Warwick Valley High School, will perform Saturday, April 19, at the The Chance in Poughkeepsie, sharing the bill with the Rush tribute band, Limelight. This “Prog-Punk” trio performs with the intricacy and musicianship of a progressive-rock band while capturing the intensity and energy of punk music. With influences ranging from hardcore to jazz and even ska, Zen is Alyssa Martini on drums, Claire O’Mara on guitar and Kiowa Pratt-Gordon on vocals and bass. Martini graduated from Warwick Valley in 2004 and majored in music at SUNY Orange. O’Mara, who graduated in 2006, is majoring in music industry at SUNY Oneonta. Pratt-Gordon graduate a year later, and is studying theater at SUNY Albany. Although they attend different colleges in New York, they have continued playing together and recently entered the New York City scene, performing at The Annex in the East Village. They also are reaching upstate audiences, having just played at SUNY Oneonta. Tickets for The Chance are $10 and are available at Village Music, Tuscan Café and Alto Music.
