Warwick Ecumenical Council ‘s Thanksgiving food baskets will be ready Nov. 20

    Warwick - People who have registered for the Thanksgiving food baskets being distributed by the Warwick Ecumenical Council should picked them up at the Warwick United Methodist Church, 135 Forester Ave., on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. on that day. The Ecumenical Council also has a program for Christmas where recipients receive a food basket, gifts for children under 16 and the opportunity to buy gifts at reduced prices at the Council’s gift shop. Those desiring Christmas baskets should sign up at the Council’s Ecumenical Food Pantry at the Warwick Methodist Church Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be a Saturday registration from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 1. The deadline for signing up for a Christmas basket in Dec. 7. The program is for Town of Warwick residents. Two proofs of identification and town residency are required to register to receive baskets. A bill showing name and physical address qualifies; post office box addresses are not acceptable. Farm workers should bring a letter from the school their children attend, an electric bill or a letter from their employer verifying their address. There is still a need for people to “adopt” families for Christmas and supply them with a food basket and gifts to be distributed Dec. 21. It is a wonderful way to include the spirit of reaching out to others in your holiday celebration.
