Warwick drummer playing local tour with flutist Ali Ryerson

Drummer Karl Latham will be appearing on a mini tour with renowned flutist Ali Ryerson, including The Falcon in Marlboro, on Thursday April 24.

Latham, listed in the Drummerworld's "Top 500 Drummers," is also a member of long-time former Warwick resident Mark Egan's "Unit 1," which was listed in Jazztimes "Top 50 CD Picks for 2013".

Celebrating their CD release "Con Brio," Ryerson along with Mike DeMicco (guitar), Mark Egan (bass), Pete Levin (piano) and Karl Latham (drums).

With a career spanning over four decades, jazz flutist Ryerson consistently ranks high among the top jazz flutists in the Downbeat Jazz Poll and has been nominated as Jazz Flutist of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association. She performs, records and teaches internationally. She has recorded and performed with jazz greats Kenny Barron, Frank Wess, Joe Beck, Mike Mainieri, Roy Haynes, Danny Gottlieb, Red Rodney, Stephane Grappelli, and Art Farmer, as well as classical artists Julius Baker and Luciano Pavarotti.

A Gemeinhardt artist with an autograph series of flutes she helped design, Ryerson's 2013 CD release, "Game Changer The Ali Ryerson Jazz Flute Big Band," hit the Top 10 on the US Jazz Charts for six straight weeks.

Other tri-state area venues on the mini tour include, Friday April 25 at The Side Door Jazz, Old Lyme, Conn., Saturday April 26 at Trumpets Jazzclub, Montclair, N.J. and at Sarah's Wine Bar, Ridgefield, Conn..
