Warwick Art League hosts African textile talk on Sunday

    Warwick — The Warwick Art League will host a lecture by Roslyn Fassett focusing will focus on traditional, decorated African fabrics on Sunday, June 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Warwick Senior Center. The talk will be illustrated with examples of textiles from Fassett’s collection, gathered from trips to Mali and Nigeria. The discussion will include an explanation of how fabrics in Africa are used in everyday life, festivals and ceremony. Fassett, a Warwick artist, has taught African Art History at SUNY Purchase and uses fabric patterns as inspiration in her paintings. The lecture is free for art league members and $5 for others.
