Sugar Loaf - The Allegro Orchestra was recently accepted as a member of the Community Foundation of Orange County. The formal presentation was scheduled at the Lycian Centre on November 30th where county corporate and political leadership were on hand to hear this talented ensemble. The original sololist scheduled to perform that evening was unable to appear leaving the orchestra without a featured artist. “At that moment I called all my colleagues to see what possible options were available,” said Viktoras Prizgintas, who conducts the orchestra. “The odds of finding a soloist for Bach’s Second Violin Concerto at the last minute were minimal at best. Finding a violinist with four international awards was simply astonishing.“ Dr. Chin Kim is a top prize recipient of the most prestigious international violin competitions, including the Queen Elizabeth Competition of Brussels, the Paganini Competion, the Concours International de Musique de Montreal and the Internation Violin Competition of Indianapolis. “While the orchestra was scheduled to perform for five minutes during the formal segment of the program that evening, the audience was so astonished they asked to hear the complete concerto,” Prizgintas said. The Allegro Orchestra is scheduled to perform Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola on Jan. 22nd with two members from the New York Philharmonic.
