Festival at Harmony Farm to change the world Goshen — A collaboration of artists, poets, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, scientists, and cooks will present the University of Utopian Directions’ World’s Fair, to be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at the Harmony Farm in Goshen. The fair will be held on the great lawn outside the Empowerment Center (or inside if it’s raining). UD professors (UDjuncts) will share their creative ideas with the public at a series of pavilions. Themes are designed to be amusing and to maximize audience participation. WUUD, the campus radio station, will “broadcast” poetry, interviews, and comic diatribes from the stage. The university’s band, The Utopian Bend, will perform live. A barbecue will provide organic food and beverages at cost. Children are welcome to attend. The brainchild of artists James Antonie and Michael Fabian, the University of Utopian Directions is a group of creative people who have come together to change the world — one person at a time — on the campus of life. The university includes three divisions: Sillyosophy (the Department of Humor), ISAFU (Institute for the Study and Analysis of Failed Utopias), and the Ideal (the Quest for Utopia). The university offers a self-study approach in which students (UDsters) are encouraged to collect information on subjects of personal interest and share the information with others. The belief here is that everyone has the potential to recognize and explore their own creativity and share it for the development of a better world. Harmony Farm is located one mile from exit 126 on Route 17. Turn left on 17M and go past the Shoprite Plaza. Turn right onto Old Chester Road, make another right on Knoell Road. Turn right again on Broadlea Road and proceed to Harmony Farm at 144 Broadlea Road. For more information call James Antonie at 914-980-2409 or e-mail him at UofUD@optonline.net.
