Union Ave Y to run summer day camp
Newburgh The Union Ave Y has been selected by New York State to launch a new summer daycamp at the Palisades State Park at Bear Mountain. The daycamp will run in two week sessions, from Monday, June 26, to Friday, Sept. 1, for children from seven to 13 years old. Campers will get picked up between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m., and get dropped off between 5:30 and 6 p.m. at central locations in Cornwall, Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery, Goshen, Chester, Monroe, Nyack, Haverstraw, and Stony Point. The campsite features a lakeside waterfront, a recreation center, sports fields, activity cabins, nature trails, and much more. Activities will include swimming, hiking, boating, orienteering, arts and crafts, and drama. Informational open houses about the daycamp and the registration process will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, March 9, April 13, and May 11, at Chester Elementary School at 2 Herbert Drive in Chester. The cost of $430 per two-week session includes transportation from centralized pick up and drop off locations. Those who register by Wednesday, March 1, will get a discount of 10 percent off.
