WARWICK — Lewis Park, the heart of the village, the core of the historic district and one of the properties of the Warwick Historical Society, will be the setting for the society’s annual “Under the Tent” party on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The event is set in the center of its historic buildings: The Old School Baptist Meeting House, Baird’s Tavern, the Buckbee Center, the Shingle House, the Sly Barn, the UAME Church building, the Lehigh & Hudson Caboose, the Ketchum House and the 1810 House.

Surrounded by historical buildings and shaded by the historical trees of Lewis Park, “Under the Tent” will serve up epicurean delights donated by Town of Warwick restaurants, accompanied with wine and beer and, of course, music to set the mood.

There also will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction.

Every year the Warwick Historical Society is finding new ways to reach out to the community to make the connection between the past, the present and the future relevant.

This past year the society opened its buildings to hundreds of school children, offered lectures and programs to adults and children alike and answered questions about the town of Warwick through its protected archives.

Additionally, the society has sponsored supplemental educational experiences through the schools, wine and cheese events, historically based activities and a myriad of volunteer opportunities.

Consider your connection to the past.

Consider your connection to the future.

Consider attending this, the Warwick Historical society’s major fund raiser, destined make a difference in the present.
