Tuxedo Performing Arts Group presents a musical mosaic this Saturday
Tuxedo - The Tuxedo Performing Arts Group will present an evening of standards, opera and classical performances all by local professionals on Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m., in the Baker High School Auditorium in Tuxedo. Appearing will be opera singer and local resident Anthony Daino, who will be accompanied on piano by David Maiullo; cabaret singer and local resident JC Cassis, who will be accompanied by guitarist Socrates Cruz; and the Orange County Music Educators Association Wind Ensemble. Daino will perform a program of love songs and arias from around the world including, “E Lucevan Le Stelle” from Puccini’s “Tosca,” “Yours Is My Heart Alone” by Franz Lehar and “Overhead The Moon Is Beaming” by Sigmund Romberg from “The Student Prince.” Cassis will sing a program including “Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones and “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keyes as well as some original compositions. The OCMEA Wind Ensemble comprises 23 musicians, woodwind, brass and percussion, playing music by Arthur Bird and Robert Kurka, plus “American Tapestry” by Daniel Kallman. The ensemble’s artistic director is Richard F. Regan, who teaches instrumental music at Monroe-Woodbury High School. The performances will be followed by a coffee and dessert reception. Tickets are on sale at St Mary’s Office, Tuxedo Park Preferred Properties, Tuxedo Park Estates and Tuxedo Wines and Liquors. Tickets at the door are subject to availability. Prices are: Adults $10; students $5.
