Tuxedo Park — For the month of January, the Tuxedo Park Library will be featuring the work of photographer and artist Cynthia Papaleo Seeley of Florida. The exhibit will showcase an arrangement of color photography of the Hudson Valley, and include landscape paintings in oil. “My photography is driven by an intuition, a feeling that I have towards nature,” Seeley said in a press release. “My eye catches a shape, a color, or a moment and I just want to photograph it, become a part of it and make it my own.” Seeley studied studio art and English at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Societies, and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in 1997. After college, Seeley gained business experience working in marketing communications and corporate writing. In the spring of 2004, she started Papaleo Paintings & Design, based in Florida. With more than ten years of experience in the studio arts, the artist’s work has expanded to include customized pet portraits, house portraits, children’s murals, and paintings on glass. She also teaches art classes to community members. The artist’s paintings and photography have been exhibited at the 1929 Gallery at Eisenhower Hall in West Point, Gallery 211 at the Art Barn in Ossining, and the Lycian Theatre in Sugar Loaf, and have been commissioned for private collections. At the 30th annual Artists on the Campus show at Mount Saint Mary’s College in Newburgh, she won first place for “Reflections” in color photography, and honorable mention for “Flight” in black and white photography. A member of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, Goshen Chamber of Commerce, Rockland Business Association, and Washingtonville Art Society, Seeley resides in Florida with her husband and a Saint Bernard dog.
