WARWICK — Tu estas invitado – you are invited – to Warwick’s seventh annual Hispanic Heritage Parade and Celebration on Sunday, Sept. 23.
The parade kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Warwick Reform Church, heads down Main Street and ends at Railroad Green, where the celebration will include tastings of traditional food from Mexico, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador.
After a brief ceremony with words from Pastor Rolfi Elivo, Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard and others, the fiesta will continue until 8 p.m. Los Chinelos will perform traditional Mexican dancing in their colorful costumes. DJ Bayanay will provide music and lights that are sure to get everyone up and dancing.
Don’t know how to dance to Latin music? Don’t worry, some will teach you the steps.
The theme of this year’s event, timed to coincide with National Hispanic Heritage Month, is “Unified in Diversity.”
This free and family-friendly event is made possible by the Hispanic Ministry at the Warwick Reformed Church, Warwick Immigrant Neighbors (WIN) and the Village of Warwick.
