Tribute to Dylan at Warwick Valley Winery
Warwick The ninth annual, weekend-long “Tribute to Dylan” will be held at the Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery from noon to 6 p.m. on May 27, 28 and 29, on the winery’s outdoor stage. The tribute is a continuation of the winery’s ongoing music series, “Uncorked and Unplugged.” Performers will be playing a mix of Bob Dylan songs, paying homage to Dylan’s timeless music. Attendees will see some local musicians, as well as some national recording artists. Steve Forbert will make his first appearance at the winery on Saturday, May 27. Forbert joins other great musicians, Sloan Wainwright, and Daves True Story, to open the Dylan weekend with a traditional folk sound, playing many rare Dylan songs and some known standards. The Hudson Valley acoustic rock quartet Project Mercury will make their fourth appearance at the event around 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 28. The band is comprised of Marian Mastrorilli on vocals and guitar, Charlene Donohue on violin and vocals, Craig Fox on guitar and vocals and Jeanne DaSilva on cello and bass. For more information, visit www.projectmercury.net. Dylan festival veterans The Kennedy’s will give the audience a new look at some Dylan tracks. Pete and Mora Kennedy are known in both the guitar-pop camp and in the singer-songwriter set. They perform in a variety of styles, ranging from roots rock to soulful acoustic pop, across the United States. Their high energy style and chemistry makes their performance a singular experience. “Last year’s set was so good that we had to have them back,” said event organizer and co-owner Jeremy Kidde. “We also asked Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams back, to give Sunday that festival feel.” Local blues and guitar virtuoso Bill Perry will lend his skills to the lineup on Sunday, May 28. Perry’s guitar and vocals lend themselves to Dylan classics like “All Along the Watchtower.” The lineup for the weekend also includes Terence Martin, Joe McKay, Kyle Hancharack, and Mike Baglione and Suzy Arnowitz. Wine tastings, hard cider, and fruit brandies, as well as food, and soft drinks, will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, but no coolers. The winery is located at 114 Little York Road in Warwick. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 258-4858 or visit www.wvwinery.com.
