Tribute to Drummers'
WEST POINTThe United States Military Academy Band continues its “Music Under the Stars” concert series with a performance by the Jazz Knights entitled “A Tribute to the Drummers.” The concert will feature Adam Nussbaum and John Riley as drum set soloists and will be held at the Trophy Point Amphitheatre on Sunday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m. After opening the performance with Thad Jones’ Groove Merchant, Riley and Nussbaum will each be featured peforming a variety of selections. Nussbaum has performed with Dave Liebman, John Scofield, Stan Getz, Gil Evans, Gary Burton and Steve Swallow. Riley has played and recorded with the One O’clock Lab Band, as well as the Woody Herman Band, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, John Scofield, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. Both Nussbaum and Riley will conclude the concert with a joint performance of Buddy Rich’s West Side Story Medley. Like all of the band’s performances, this performance is free and open to the public. Please allow extra travel time for the 100 percent vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates.
