Trek with the caribou: Park coalition to show documentary
New Windsor The feature film “Being Caribou” will be screened at a joint meeting of SPARC (Stewart Park and Reserve Coalition), the Orange County Audubon Society and the Atlantic Sierra Club, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22. The screening, made available by the Sierra Club, will be held in the community room of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Jackson Ave and Route 94 in New Windsor. The film is the work of a husband and wife team, environmentalist Leanne Allison and wildlife biologist Karsten Heuer, and follows their five-month journey in the footsteps of a 120,000-member herd of caribou on their annual migration across Alaska. It has won 17 awards at international film festivals. Following the film, SPARC will also provide an update to the Stewart Lands and Drury Lane issues.
