Trailside Museum and Zoo hosts avian festival
Bear Mountain All are invited to join Trailside Museums and Zoo in celebrating a remarkable natural and cultural resource: local birds. The Flying WILD Bird Festival, to be held on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m., will provide an opportunity for participants to take part in numerous hands-on activities. Activities include creating your own imaginary bird, playing the part of a migrating bird in a life-size board game, seeing how you match up to birds in the Bird Olympics and making turkey calls to bring home with you, among others. All programs are free with admission to the zoo. All programs are held outdoors; please dress for the weather. Programs are subject to cancellation if the weather is poor. Admission to the zoo is $1 ages 13 and up, $0.50 ages 6 to 12 and free ages 5 and under. Parking is $6 per car. Bear Mountain State Park can be reached via Exit 19 of the Palisades Interstate Parkway or from Route 9W. Call 845-786-2701, ext. 293 for further information.
