Tour highlights of holiday season on Nov. 18-19

Warwick -The Warwick Historic Society will host its lantern-lit tour of Warwick’s seasonally festooned historic buildings on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. Then on Sunday, Nov. 19, the society offers self-guided tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A red-caped docent will greet visitors on the rear terrace of Baird’s Tavern. Take a sip of Bishop’s Punch in the Tavern offered by an 18th century serving wench. After glimpsing 18th century tavern life, you will be guided to the 1810 House and invited to view an early Victorian children’s Christmas party featuring dolls assembled by the Hudson Valley Doll Club and typical toys given to young lads in these times. Depart the 1810 House through the Herb Wheeled Garden and a meandering lighted pathway through Lewis Park to the charming Old School Baptist Meeting House to hear one of the many musical programs offered throughout the evening. On then to the Ketchum House, where Christmas dinner will be set in the style of a typical Warwick home of the Federal period. After leaving the Ketchum house you will be transported to Wyndhurst on Maple Avenue where you can imagine yourself as a guest at a mid-twentieth century dinner party and be regaled by the docents with many wonderful stories that tell the tale of the house and an early Warwick family. Return transportation to the Baird’s Tavern will be provided Tickets for the lantern-lit guided tour are $30. Tickets for the self-guided tour are $20 for adults and $10 for students and $15 for seniors. Reservations are strongly suggested.
