— Orange County's annual Pumpkin Festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 19 at Hill-Hold Museum.

Guests are invited to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of autumnal activities, including pumpkin rolling and painting, waxing leaves, scarecrow making, face painting, guess the weight of the pumpkin contest and a hay ride through the historic grounds of the Hill-Hold property to the pumpkin patch. If you look very carefully you may find a guest scarecrow lurking around to assist you on picking the best pumpkin for painting.

Included in this year’s festivities will be Farmer Bob’s demonstrations on erecting a dollhouse size traditional timber frame barn, shelling corn with an antique Corn Sheller and much more.

Festivities run from 12 to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

“Fall is a beautiful time in Orange County,” said Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana. “I encourage our residents to come and enjoy themselves at this very special event.”

Built in 1769, Hill-Hold farm was home to the Bull-Jackson family for more then 200 years. Now a part of the Orange County Parks system, Hill-Hold depicts life circa 1830, when the homeowners relied on candles, fireplace heat, homegrown food, and homespun clothes.

Hill-Hold is located on Route 416 in Campbell Hall, across from Thomas Bull Memorial Park.
