Time for a Civil War story

Goshen Join storyteller Eileen Stelljes of “It’s Time for a Story” as she introduces some famous Civil War dignitaries from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the meeting room of the Goshen Public Library and Historical Society, located at 203 Main Street. Stelljes will tell stories about President Abraham Lincoln, photographer Matthew Brady, Union General Joshua Chamberlain, as well as soldiers who fought in the war. She will also explain the origins of the song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home” and have the audience sing along to other Civil War tunes. Stelljes lives in Walden. She is a well-known storyteller who has previously presented history related programs at the local libraries, including Goshen, Greenwood Lake, and Warwick. “Civil War Stories” is a free event open to all.
