Tickets for fifth annual Black Dirt Feast go on sale June 1

— Tickets for the Black Dirt Feast to be held on Aug. 6 go on sale Saturday, June 1.

The annual al fresco fund-raiser held each year by the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce on the fields of Scheuermann’s Farm and Greenhouses is one of the area’s eagerly anticipated events.

This year’s feast will feature award-winning jazz and contemporary guitarist James Emery and The Hudson Valley Strings. In honor of the feast’s fifth anniversary, a special tastings menu was created that will be paired with fine wines:

Hors D’oeuvres
Assorted hot and cold hors d’oeuvres prepared by Tony Sylaj of Grappa Ristorante.

First course
Tomato and golden beet tartar and micro basil salad with Kalamata olive vinaigrette. Prepared by Heather Kurosz of Black Dirt Gourmet.

Second course
Tasting sampler of soups: Chilled peach, chilled pea, and hot corn chowder with chili oil. Prepared by Jennifer Haesche and Stephanie Roth of La Petite Cuisine.

Third course
Fish prepared by Kevin May of the Copper Bottom and Bottoms Up.

Fourth course
Roulade of local free-range chicken with Madura farm mushroom duxelles, caramelized organic Cipollini onions, and local Swiss chard. Prepared by James Haurey of The Grange.

Fifth course
Hudson Valley Beef with tomato Confit, Pinot braised greens in an au Poivre sauce. Prepared by Erik Johansen of The Iron Forge Inn.

Sixth Course
Assortment of mini desserts with seasonably available ingredients and cookie platters passed family style. Prepared by Melissa Schultz and Abigail Stever of Eat Sweet.

Essential information
Tickets are $100 per person and are available by calling Jerry and Janet at 258-7008 of the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce.

The Black Dirt Feast is presented by The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce (http://pineislandny.com) to showcase the quality produce from local farms and the award-winning chefs who prepare gourmet meals from these foods.

Each year the proceeds from Black Dirt Feast go to local charitable groups and to the Black Dirt Scholarship Fund.
