NEWBURGH — In its third event of the 2007- 2008 season, the Opera Company of the Highlands will present its concert performance of the one-act operas “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “I Pagliacci” on May 3 at 8 p.m. in the Aquinas Hall Theater, Mount St. Mary College. The Opera Company of the Highlands will follow its productions of “La Bohème” and “Amahl and the Night Visitors” with talent hand-picked by artistic director and New York City Opera veteran soprano Claudia Cummings. “Because the two operas are one act each, they are typically performed together at the same event but with different casts,” said Rose Wolvek, veteran opera agent and opera company artistic consultant. “However, we are lucky to have two young artists, our principal tenor and baritone, who will take on the rare and challenging task of singing both operas in the same evening.” Tickets are $30 each, or $20 if purchased prior to April 15.
