Three-day used book sale at Florida library starts Friday night

Program also includes the Hudson Rhythm Boys performing songs of America’s past on Sunday Florida - The Friends of the Florida Public Library will hold the annual used book sale at the Seward Senior Center in the Village of Florida this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Donations of used books, DVDs and videos in excellent condition are welcome and may be dropped off during regular library hours or at the senior center on the sale days. Magazines, encyclopedias and Reader’s Digest condensed books cannot be accepted. A receipt will be provided, though the library is not able to assign a value to the donation. The book sale will take place during the following hours: • Friday, Jan. 18: Preview for current members of the Friends will be 5-8 p.m. You may purchase a membership for $10 that is good through September 2008 at the door or in advance at the library. Shop this sale for the best selection. • Saturday, Jan. 19: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. • Sunday, Jan. 20: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. A “bag sale” will begin at 2 p.m. - bring your own bag or we’ll provide one; fill it up for $3. During the book sale, special family programs will be held inside the library. • On Friday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m., Shari Forst of the Canine Case Squad in Florida will discuss pet behavior problems and solutions and give puppy-raising tips. See an obedience training demonstration with one of her dogs. Forst is a certified canine behaviorist and trainer whose Web site is located at www.caninecasesquad.com. • On Saturday, Jan. 19, from 1-3 p.m., experts Jack Youchah and Joseph Scilla will display model trains and other rolling stock of various gauges in working model railroad layouts. They will demonstrate these miniature train replicas and answer your questions. Handouts will be given to each child who attends. • On Sunday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m., the Hudson Rhythm Boys will perform songs of America’s past. This is a family musical program for all ages.
