The wonderful world of dragonflies and damselflies

The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will present,“The Wonderful World of Dragonflies and Damselflies,” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. Larry Federman, an Audubon educator, will teach attendees all about these amazing insects at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, 20 Kenridge Farm Drive, Route 9W, Cornwall. Lecture will include the basics of dragonfly anatomy, their life cycle, feeding habits and species identification. A hike of the fields of the Outdoor Discovery Center to net and identify the dragonfly and damselfly species that live there will follow. Data collected will be included in the New York State Dragonfly and Damselfly Survey. Appropriate footwear (sneakers) and water are recommended. Bring a field net if available.
