Warwick - The Warwick Historical Society’s museums are now open for viewing the collection of antiques, art and clothing five days a week, now through October. The hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The gift shop attached to the Baird’s Tavern is open the same hours. The expanded hours come in response to requests “by many that we open more often and offer a longer season,” said the society’s Jo Hull in the press release announcing the new schedule. Baird’s Tavern, built in 1766, and opened as a tavern and inn for traveling salesmen, visiting relatives and even Presidents and other dignitaries is one example. Most of the masonry and flooring is original and the various rooms house beautiful furniture, art and period clothing. The Tavern Room has early American kitchen utensils and furniture. If you are a member of the Warwick Historical Society, admission is free. Otherwise it is $5 per person or $10 for a family. Call the office at 845-986-3236 or send an e-mail to whs@warwick.net for more information. The historical society also is posted on Facebook and on it’s Web site at www.warwickhistoricalsociety.org.
