The sounds of women singing

WARWICK — Premium Blend, Ithaca College’s premier female a cappella group, will perform this Sunday, Nov. 24, at The Dautaj Restaurant.
As part of its “2013 Turkey Tour,” a five-day performance and teaching excursion, the female a cappella group will be serving up the perfect blend of fresh energy, smooth sound and premium style beginning at 6 p.m. at the family-style Italian restaurant.
The concert is free; there is no cover charge.
Founded in 1998 as a larger ensemble, the group is now comprised of 12 women dedicated to learning, performing and sharing the beauty and fun of a cappella music with a wide variety of audiences.
The group enjoys exploring many different styles, incorporating rock, folk, choral and alternative music into their sets as well as current pop hits.
“We’re thrilled to include The Dautaj Restaurant on our 2013 Turkey Tour,” said Allison Dethmers, vice president of Premium Blend. “This performance is dear to my heart. Two years ago during my senior year of high school, I founded The Cat’s Meow, Warwick Valley High School’s first ever female a cappella group. Now I am living out my passion for a cappella into my collegiate career.”
Premium Blend performs extensively around the Ithaca College campus and in the community each year and regularly tours the East Coast working with other a cappella groups and giving concerts and workshops to high school and middle school students.
This year’s tour will also include a student workshop at Warwick Valley High School on Monday, Nov. 25.
The group has produced several albums, competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella and received a nomination for the Best Female Collegiate Arrangement award from the Contemporary A Cappella Society for their version of Tonic’s “If You Could Only See,” featured on their album, “Ten.”
