The Nutcracker on ice in Sugar Loaf on Nov. 25

Sugar Loaf — Seeing a performance of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” is a holiday tradition for many. This year it can be seen on ice. The Lycian Centre stage will be transformed into an ice palace and the Kings Theatre Company will present The Nutcracker with the St. Petersburg State Ballet on Ice from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25. The St Petersburg State Ballet On Ice has toured worldwide since 1967, with presentations throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South Africa, South America, and Canada. They have also toured extensively in the United States, playing venues from the celebrated Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to colleges, universities and Performing Arts Centers. This company travels with 34 world-class figure skaters and, in addition to The Nutcracker, their repertoire includes other notable ballets such as “Sleeping Beauty,” “Swan Lake,” “Cinderella” and “Romeo and Juliet..”. All the performances are on ice and in the tradition of the renowned Kirov Ballet. Tickets are $38 for adults and $28.50 for youths 18 years and younger.
